There is truly nothing I love more than actors. And I love celebrating great acting, which is why I love the SAG Awards (although, the politics of awards shows means that only the actors with the most connections get nominated, but, hay ho, that's a debate for another time). Instead, we can celebrate some of the, not-entirely mediocre, performances from this year.
Following Monday's Golden Globe nominations, the SAG noms were pretty predictable. My favorite thing to see is the leading actress in a film role is entirely made up for British and Irish actresses, as well as the great nods to British telly actors (I'm obviously talking about my boos Benedict Cumberbatch and Claire Foy). Martin McDonagh's film Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri leads in the film categories with the most nominations, HBO's Big Little Lies received four nominations for limited series, and the streaming giant Netflix received a total of 19 nominations, including those for The Crown and Orange is the New Black.
Here are my picks for the 2018 SAG Award winners!
